LR2 sets new standards for compact premium 4×4s
Class-leading breadth of capability: agile, responsive and comfortable on-road and outstanding off-road
Available with two new engines, 3.2-litre i6 petrol and 2.2-litre TD4 diesel, that deliver strong combinations of performance, refinement and fuel economy
Land Rover´s unique Terrain Response™, for easier off-road driving, heads a long list of advanced technologies, many new to the class
Bi-xenon adaptive front lighting system available as an option
Choose from 11 exterior colours and an extensive range of interior colour combinations
With its dynamic design, sporty stance and sharp, chiselled lines which give it an immediate sense of dynamism, LR2 offers the latest thinking from Land Rover - in compact form. Smart exterior design clearly signals that LR2 is ready and able. Premium levels of equipment and technology add further capability and assistance for the driver, such as the optional Bi-xenon adaptive front lighting system which swivels with the direction of travel.
All-new Design - LR2 has a style that´s instantly recognisable as pure Land Rover but with a new twist that´s all its own. It has a fresh, contemporary design: chiselled lines, smooth surfaces and interlocking shapes which reflect precision, strength, integrity and quality. All-new LR2 picks up on the bold form of LR3, the dynamism of Range Rover Sport and the elegance of The Range Rover.
Front lighting
The wrap-around headlamps of LR2 are handsome and rugged. Halogen headlamps have impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses and come with a watertight seal and a Gore-Tex™ membrane that allows ventilation without letting in water. Bi-xenon projector lamps are also available, providing a crisp blue-white light that is significantly brighter than Halogen, while consuming only half the electrical power. Automatic headlamp levelling delivers optimum lighting irrespective of vehicle load. Or choose optional Adaptive Front Lighting (AFS), available with Bi-xenon lamps that automatically swivel with the direction of travel to improve your view of the road ahead.
Panoramic sunroof
Adding to the feeling of lightness and airiness in the interior is the optional panoramic sunroof, which incorporates an electrically operated front section. Importantly, the glass is specially formulated to filter the infrared spectrum and so provide light without unpleasant heat.
Comfort and spaciousness are given high priority in LR2. For example, the seats provide excellent support, safety and durability with the driver enjoying a seat with six-way adjustment as standard, plus optional electric control and driver seat memory (leather only). All occupants benefit from superb leg, head and shoulder room. What´s more, stadium seating places the rear passengers 50mm higher than those in front so everyone can enjoy the view. The loadspace has been made as versatile as possible with a 60/40 split rear seat. Even with the rear seats raised, the loadspace is capable of swallowing the bulkiest of items.
Premium Comfort
Take a welcome step up with LR2. Once inside, you´ll notice an interior with excellent craftsmanship. Upholstery and tufted carpets use high quality materials. Blonde or Dark Eucalyptus wood-effect finishes and a Pixel Metallic-effect finish add further premium touches. You´ll enjoy class-leading shoulder room, while the optional panoramic sunroof makes the interior feel even more light, airy and spacious. Rear seat headphone sockets are also available, allowing rear seat passengers to listen to a different audio source to those in the front.
Premium Loadspace
LR2 has all the room you need. As well as the versatile rear loadspace – which can be made even bigger by folding the asymmetric split-rear seats to provide a flat load floor – there is stowage space galore. It includes a capacious glove-box and generous front and rear door bins with 1-litre bottle storage holders, plus two additional cup holders. The total luggage volume is 1670 litres with the rear seats folded forward. With one metre between the wheel arches there is plenty of room for more awkward loads.
Colours and materials
A wide variety of exciting interior colours and material combinations, including leather on the top-of-the-range models, is available to suit taste and individual preference. Choose from facings and bolsters in Leather, Cloth/Leather or Cloth with colour co-ordinated door casing inserts and instrument panel. Also select from a range of trim colours including Ebony, Tundra, Alpaca, Scuba and Reef. Design recommendations have been made for the ideal combinations to assist your decision making; referring to the Designer´s Choice for each model will reveal the perfect interior and exterior colour combinations.
LR2 is packed with the latest primary safety systems and technology. Its long list of primary safety features – not least its responsive handling, ABS brakes, Electronic Traction Control and intelligent 4×4 system – helps the driver avoid hazards. The high ´command view´ seating position provides visibility over traffic and a clearer view on rain-lashed roads.
Airbags
Seven airbags, fitted as standard on all vehicles, play a key role in protecting all occupants. Driver and front passenger airbags provide head and chest protection. Driver and front passenger side airbags give side impact protection. Full-length curtain airbags provide head impact and rollover ejection protection for all occupants. And there´s even a driver´s inflatable knee bolster for additional lower body protection.
Approach and Departure Angles
LR2 is a true Land Rover which means it´s built for ups and downs – literally. It has excellent approach (31°) and departure angles (34°), a minimum of 210mm ground clearance and a wading depth of up to 500mm. So you can take steep slopes, muddy fields and shallow streams in your stride.
Anti-lock Braking System - ABS
This latest design adapts the braking force to each wheel individually, to prevent wheel lock. The result is shorter stopping distances and improved control when maneuvering under extreme braking. The system response time is less than1/100th of a second.
Electronic Traction Control - ETC
Intervenes at the onset of wheel spin to progressively reduce engine Torque. If wheel acceleration has not been stopped within 50 milliseconds, braking force is applied to the wheel to help control its speed.
Electronic Brake-Force Distribution - EBD
Controls the distribution of brake forces between the front and rear wheels, to provide predictable braking under different load conditions.
Emergency Brake Assist - EBA
Detects emergency braking, then instructs the electronic brake actuator to increase hydraulic pressure to help you improve your stopping distance.
Corner Brake Control - CBC
Feeds additional brake force to the outside front wheel when cornering, minimising the risk of rear-end breakaway when braking hard.
Dynamic Stability Control - DSC
If the car isn´t responding correctly to your steering input, this system intervenes in less than 10 milliseconds to adjust the vehicle´s course and cornering. It particularly helps the driver to maintain control in skid conditions.
Command driving position
LR2 benefits from the classic Land Rover Command driving position. This places the driver in an elevated position, inspiring confidence and a feeling of being in control. The improved visibility afforded by the Command driving position also means potential hazards can be spotted well ahead of time.
LR2 is one of the most complete vehicles in its class and matches the refinement usually associated with premium saloon cars. With exceptional on-road and off-road performance, it offers a truly great drive. The independent suspension with long wheel travel, coupled with the exceptionally stiff body structure, delivers agile handling with outstanding ride comfort. Added to this, LR2 introduces two all-new power units which deliver a perfect balance of performance, refinement and fuel economy.
Petrol Engine
The 3.2 litre i6 petrol engine (233PS/171kW) combines high levels of Torque with real refinement. 80% of the maximum Torque is available across the rev range to offer smooth cruising on long journeys and lively acceleration - 0-60mph in 8.4 seconds (0-100kph in 8.9 seconds). The standard 6-speed automatic transmission features CommandShift™ offering manual sequential gear changes and driver-selectable sports mode.
Diesel Engine
The 2.2 litre TD4 turbo diesel engine (160PS/118kW)* is both highly refined and economical, with a combined average fuel consumption of 37.7 mpg (7.5 l/100km). The variable-nozzle turbocharger helps deliver excellent response and huge mid-range Torque, whilst the latest common-rail injection system aids economy and refinement. A catalysed Diesel Particulate Filter is available to remove soot particles from the exhaust gas for an even cleaner-running vehicle. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard with the option** of 6-speed automatic with CommandShift™.
Transmission
Power is nothing without control. With sophisticated 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes you can face any on or off-road driving situation with supreme confidence. Standard on petrol models, and optional on diesel*, LR2 is fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift™ that cleverly adapts to the individual driver´s style. It offers manual sequential gear changes and a driver-selectable sports mode.
