599 GTB Fiorano
Aenean tincidunt. Nulla rutrum mollis enim
The 599 GTB Fiorano is Ferrari’s new front-engine two-seat Berlinetta with an all-aluminum body and powered by a 611-horsepower V12 derived from the engine in the Ferrari Enzo. According to Ferrari, the 599 GTB Fiorano will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 205 mph. The F1 SuperFast gearbox and F1-Trac are both developed from Formula 1 racing and make their production car debuts on the 599 GTB Fiorano.
Providing a base for the the 599 are three extruded aluminum sections on which the body is rivited and welded to. This lightweight design makes the 599’s chassis 100 kg lighter than the 575 desipte being 250 mm longer. And since the V12 engine is 8 percent lighter and more compact than previous versions, it can sit further back in the engine bay. This means almost 85 percent of weight is contained bewteen the wheels.
At first glance the GTB’s styling seems to mimic its larger 4-seat brother, the 612 Scgalietti. Both were designed at the same time and share the common interior bits, as well as similar front end designs which Pininfarina now sets as the enduring face of Ferrari. But unlike the 612, the 599 has an entirely new roof line and much tidier rear end treatment with two sexy rear buttresses that create 25 percent of the 599’s downforce. Specifically it produceses 160 kg at 300 kph.
The 599 GTB Fiorano is a strikingly sculptural car. The design is so supple, in fact, that each new angle brings something new to light. Its forms say it all about its extreme sportiness yet still retain a unique sophistication.
A balance has been struck in the interior between the car’s sporty vocation and the feeling of intimacy and safety that only skilled hand-crafting and detailed personalization can achieve. The passenger areas of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano are trimmed in sumptuous leather while the driver area and controls boast more high-tech detailing in carbon-fiber and aluminum.
In addition to the steering wheel and manettino, the central rev counter with a choice of red or yellow background and solid aluminum passenger controls, the new Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano also boasts attractive new styling cues including a central grip to provide extra support for the passenger and new adaptive racing seats featuring carbon-fiber side rests. Other standard accessories include front bi-xenon headlamps and rear LED lights, dusk and rain sensors, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable steering-wheel column, hideaway radio/CD player and key with integrated volumetric anti-theft device with motion sensors.
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano also benefits from an already vast choice of personalization options available for every Ferrari model. Four areas are covered by this program: Racing and Track, Exteriors and Colors, Interior and Materials, Equipment and Travel.
Interior and Materials options include a new Enzo Ferrari-inspired carbon-fiber steering wheel with LED rev display which can be specified along with a special carbon-fiber trim kit for the door panels, instrument panel, gear stick surround and sill kick panels. Various types of leather trim are also available for the seats and interior too. Travel and Equipment accessories include front and rear parking sensors, iPod-friendly set-up, satellite anti-theft system and a luggage set specially tailored to fit this model.
Front-impact airbags Front-impact airbags for the driver and passenger have been designed to protect the head during a frontal crash.
Side impact airbags Side impact airbags for the front seats have been designed to protect the torso during a side impact collision.
Pretensioners Seatbelt pretensioners automatically tighten seatbelts to place the occupant in the optimal seating position during a collision.
Security system The vehicle is equipped with a means of anticipating and/or detecting unwanted vehicle intrusion. The vehicle is equipped with an ignition disable device that will prevent the engine from starting if the correct original manufacturer key is not used.
Anti-lock brakes ABS brakes automatically sense when a tire has stopped rotating under extreme braking, and will modulate the brake pressure to allow the tire to rotate. This increases the vehicles ability to turn while braking.
Stability control Stability control automatically senses when the vehicles handling limits have been exceeded and reduces engine power and/or applies select brakes to help prevent the driver from losing control of the vehicle.
The 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is new for 2007 and is powered by a 611-horsepower 6.0-liter V12 engine combined with the F1 SuperFast transmission that shifts gears in 100 milliseconds. The 599 GTB Fiorano also features F1-Trac to optimize traction and the SCM (magnetorheological fluid suspension system) developed with Delphi which provides improved bump absorption and body control.
