Brake Force Display helps vehicles travelling behind you to evaluate your braking more accurately: in the event of an emergency stop, the illuminated area of the brake lights is increased. Servotronic, speed-dependent powersteering assistance

Controller: This turn/press button enables intuitive control of different functions shown on the Control Display. There is a choice of four individual menus: climate, communication, navigation and entertainment.

Shift point display shows when switching to another gear would be more fuel-efficient. The system recommends when to switch to a higher or lower gear, as appropriate for your driving style. For example, when accelerating, a signal is shown at the point where you could continue to accelerate in a higher gear while however saving fuel (for vehicles with 6-speed manual transmission).

Control Display (6.5 inch, colour) for displaying functions that are accessed using the Controller (e.g. on-board computer or radio). In conjunction with the navigation system Professional* it has an 8.8 inch monitor

Cruise control with brake function stores any desired speed upwards of approx. 30 km/h and maintains that speed (activated via left-hand control stalk).

The eight-cylinder petrol engine.
Numbers can be fascinating: just take the 550i’s eight-cylinder petrol engine. Its vital statistics are 270 kW at 6,300 rpm, zero to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and 10.9 litres per 100 km. What’s more, this Valvetronic-equipped V8 delivers outstanding pulling power throughout the rev range, with more than 80% of its peak torque available from as early as 1,500 and staying online right up to 6,400 rpm. It all adds up to 100% driving enjoyment.

The straight six-cylinder petrol engine.
The genius of BMW’s High Precision Injection takes dynamic responsiveness to new heights. Variable multi-stage direct injection makes combustion quieter and more efficient. Performance and running smoothness are enhanced, while emissions and fuel consumption are reduced. The figures speak for themselves: the 530i has a top power output of 200 kW (272 bhp) and maximum torque of 320 Nm at 2,750-3,000 rpm, but consumes just 7.7 litres per 100 km on average. The engine’s unmistakable sound can’t be conveyed by the figures.
